Cliff’s POV
I don’t say anything, because this is Kate’s day, but Brooke seems to need Kate right about now. She’s had another drink since she left us, and the effects are clear on her reddened face. She’s obviously avoiding Milo, and she and Jason seem to be leering at each other from afar, not approaching or ignoring each other.
Milo, who seems unsurprised—though not unconcerned—by Brooke’s behavior, clears his throat and taps a spoon against his champagne glass. “Present time!” he shouts, and we gather around the counter.
I glance around to do a mental head count, frowning when I see Jason pulling Brooke into one of the bedrooms.
“They’ll just be a minute,” Milo says when he sees my expression. “They said we can start without them. Here, Kate, open mine.”
