I woke up early and got ready to leave right away. I had just finished getting dressed when Lucas woke up. He looked at me in wonder and asked, “Where are you going?”
Sarah: “I’m headed to the mansion. I need to talk to Mrs. Santiago.”
Lucas: “It’s too early. It’s still dark outside. She’s probably still asleep.”
I looked at the time and saw that it was only five in the morning. I didn’t check what time it was when I woke up, and I felt really stupid for not checking.
I watched Lucas as he put the pillow and blanket away. He stretched a few times, and I realized that sleeping on the couch must not have been comfortable for him. He’s tall, and the couch was too short for him. Despite that, he moved quite gracefully as he prepared breakfast. When he was done, he invited me to eat.
