Chapter 16
Once in his office, Parrish placed the poinsettia and the baseball mitt on his desk and turned on his computer. As he hung up his coat and started a pot of coffee, he considered what had just happened. Was that weird, or what?
Well, Mr. Nelson might have someone in mind for Parrish’s job, but he was going to be in for a big surprise. Parrish had no intention of letting just anyone work for his boss.
Before Parrish put in the call to Human Resources about his replacement, though, he pulled up furniture stores local to the Charlotte area. Until Ms. Sayles had said something about the house in Huntersville being unfurnished, it hadn’t occurred to Parrish that he might need to buy furniture for his new home; after all, his apartment had come furnished, right down to the TV.
