It was a ground-shaking roar that pulled me from my sleep and made me sit up on the bed. I looked around, confused, my eyes landing on Mefan beside me, who was also pulled from his sleep. He looked back at me, equally puzzled, but then, as the roar echoed throughout the castle, we knew who had arrived.
“That was fast,” Mefan remarked.
I pulled the blanket away and searched for my clothes before starting to put them on. Mefan wrapped himself in a dark blood-red robe and began to walk toward the door.
“Wait!” I called out.
He glanced over his shoulder, his hand on the handle. I noticed he looked normal again, and I checked my arm, seeing the golden skin I had gotten from being in the sun. I was normal again too. Spotting a mirror on the wall, I walked over and studied my face.
