“Uncle Carter! Uncle Mefan!” A young girl came running through the expansive hallway, clutching her small dress to prevent tripping, and then flung herself into Carter’s arms. He didn’t hesitate to twirl her around and hold her close.
“God, you’re getting big!” Carter exclaimed. “Soon, I won’t be able to do this anymore.”
“No!” she protested, clinging tighter to him. “Never stop!”
Carter chuckled, and then Alexia turned her yellow-green eyes toward me.
“Got something for me?” she inquired.
“Do I?”
“Oh, come on, Uncle Mefan, you always bring it with you!” she complained.
I smiled as I revealed the Fire Lily from behind my back. Alexia reached out with her small arms and accepted the flower. She always wanted me to bring one with me, as they couldn’t grow here in The Golden C
