While I wanted to explore everything on the island, Mefan and I settled in an inn, hoping to hear from Queen Catla soon. It was probably best to stay in one place so the guards could easily find us, but the day passed, and soon it was dark.
The inn had only grown busier, yet I enjoyed the atmosphere. I sat at one of the tables, observing the many people who dressed somewhat like us northerners, but their clothing was thinner, and they didn’t layer up as much to keep warm.
With a drink in hand, I listened as music began to play and the patrons started to sing a song they all seemed to know, a smile forming on my lips. Glancing over my shoulder, I saw Mefan seated behind me, his eyes meeting mine with a serene smile on his lips.
