Linus' nose twitched, and Bailee also looked to her door. Emma was back! She looked back at her caregiver with a wide smile, but it slowly faded. Linus wasn’t smiling. His eyes were on the door but, his brows were furrowed and the corners of his lips were weighed down by a heavy frown.
The knob turned and the door swung open. “Someone just had a bath”, Emma smiled as she entered the room.
“Ma!” Bailee’s eyes lit up.
“Bailee!” Emma crouched with open arms.
The little girl hopped off her bed and ran into the waiting arms. Her little arms hugged Emma close. The alpha laughed as the little one rubbed her nose against Emma’s cheek. Linus watched them with a small smile that was until he notice Emma's very slight teetering.
He crossed the room quickly, “get back here.”
