Peter The room was quiet, save for the soft, rhythmic sound of Gwen’s breathing. She had fallen asleep and curled against my side, her hand resting lightly on my chest. Her presence was a comfort, a reminder of what I was fighting for, but my thoughts wouldn’t let me rest. Carefully, I shifted out from under her arm, tucking the blanket around her to keep her warm. She murmured something in her sleep, her lips parting slightly, and my heart clenched at the sight. Leaning down, I pressed a gentle kiss to her temple before turning toward the door. The cool night air greeted me as I stepped onto the deck. The sea stretched out like an endless expanse of ink, the moonlight glinting off its surface.
