Nishi The rogue’s teeth sank deep into Nishi’s shoulder. White-hot agony exploded through her body. His fangs tore through muscle and skin as if her flesh were nothing more than thin cloth beneath his jaws, ripping without mercy, without pause. The violent force of the bite slammed her hard against the frozen forest floor, the air bursting from her lungs as a broken scream tore from her throat. For a moment… the world disappeared. Pain swallowed everything. Sound blurred into a distant ringing. The towering trees above twisted into dark, shifting shadows while the cold winter wind brushed across her skin like sharp, icy knives. Then the pain sharpened again. Warm blood poured from the wound instantly, soaking through her torn blouse and running down her arm in thick crimson streams. It dripped from her trembling fingers, staining the frozen soil beneath her, spreading slowly like something claiming her life piece by piece. The rogue growled savagely. His jaws tightened. He shook his massive head violently. Fresh pain tore through her body as the wound ripped wider. Nishi’s fingers clawed helplessly at the ground, nails digging into frozen dirt and dead leaves as her body struggled weakly beneath the crushing weight of the wolf. The other rogues circled closer. Hungry and excited to use their teeth. Their yellow eyes glowed in the darkness like cruel flames reflecting the moonlight. Nishi smelled like blood. “Finish her,” one of them snarled. Another rogue approached slowly from the side, his large body moving with calm confidence, his scarred muzzle lifting slightly as he inhaled deeply. Nishi’s chest rose and fell unevenly beneath the rogue pinning her down. Every breath burned. As if her lungs had been filled with fire instead of air. Her strength slipped away with every second. Her fingers trembled. Her vision blurred. The rogue finally released his bite. Only to slam his massive paw harder against her chest. Sharp claws dug deep into her skin while blood continued to pour from the torn wound in her shoulder. He growled in a winning tone. Nishi’s head fell to the side against the cold earth. Tears mixed with dirt across her face. For a moment she wasn’t in the forest anymore. She was back in the pack courtyard. Alpha Joshua stood in front of her. His cold, distant, unfamiliar eyes were on her. She could still see the silver dagger slicing across his palm. Still hear the sharp gasp from the gathered wolves as his blood fell onto the rejection stone. And then those words ring loud and sharp. The words that destroyed everything. “I reject you.” The memory struck her chest like a physical blow. Her fingers curled weakly into the soil. “So this… is how it ends…” she whispered hoarsely. The rogue above her lowered his jaws toward her throat. His breath was hot and rotten. His teeth gleamed under the moonlight as his mouth opened wider. One bite. That was all it would take. And then something inside Nishi finally broke. Not the mate bond. Something different, buried deep inside her blood. The world went silent. Completely silent. The wind stopped. The trees were still. Even the rogues paused. Because the scent rising from Nishi’s body was changing. The scent of weak prey disappeared and something else was replacing it. Something that did not belong to ordinary wolves. The rogue leaning toward her throat hesitated. His ears flattened. Then— A massive black wolf burst from the shadows. His ice-blue eyes glowed like frozen fire as he slammed into the rogue with brutal force, throwing him off Nishi’s body. The impact shook the ground. Before the rogues could react Another wolf lunged forward. A powerful brown wolf with deep brown eyes, moving with raw strength, crashed into one of them and tore straight through his throat. Blood splattered across the snow. Chaos erupted. The black wolf didn’t hesitate. Fast. Precise. Deadly. He tore into another rogue, his jaws crushing bone like it was nothing. The brown wolf fought like a storm. Brutal. Dominant. Every attack was heavy enough to break bodies beneath him. The rogues tried to fight back. They failed. “What are they?!” one snarled in fear. “Run—!” Too late. Within moments… silence returned. Bodies lay scattered across the snow. Blood soaked the ground. Nishi’s blurred vision struggled to focus. She lost so much blood. Her body became weak. Her breathing was shallow. Eyes barely open. But she saw them. Two wolves are standing there. Dominating the entire clearing. The black wolf turned his head slightly. His ice-blue eyes locked onto her. Cold… yet something inside them shifted. The brown wolf stepped closer. His gaze was softer, watching her carefully. The Black wolf growled at him in warning. The brown wolf steps back. Give him a way. Then something impossible happened. The black wolf’s form began to shift. Bones cracked softly. Fur receded. A man stood there. Tall. Powerful. Bare skin under the moonlight. Nishi couldn’t see his face clearly. Her vision was fading too fast. But his eyes. Those ice-blue eyes were still locked on her. Filled with something she couldn’t understand. Worry. “N… who… are you…?” she whispered weakly. Her voice barely existed. The man stepped closer instantly. Too fast. Too urgent. “Mate...” his voice was low, rough… almost shaken. He wraps his arms around her. But she couldn’t hear the rest. Darkness crept into her vision. The last thing she saw were those eyes. Watching her as she mattered. And then she fainted. *****
