Ch1: The Night of Rejection

1957 คำ
Nishi Peter The night was cruel. Winter had wrapped the entire Reverstone territory in a merciless grip. Snow fell silently, covering the ground in white… but there was no peace in it. Only something… wrong. Nishi pulled her thin shawl tighter around herself as she walked toward the pack house. The wind cut through her skin like blades, but that wasn’t what made her uneasy. It was the restless and uneasy feeling in her chest. Her wolf was pacing. Something wasn’t right. Tonight was Valentine’s Day. A day meant for mates. For promises. For love. In her slightly trembling hands, she held a small wrapped box. simple, but filled with everything she couldn’t say aloud. A gift for her mate. For Alpha Joshua. Her lips curved faintly despite the cold. She remembered his words from yesterday. Important work. He wouldn’t be back tonight. But she still came. Because she made a plan she will put a gift box in his room to surprise him when he returns. She was very nervous right now. The pack house stood tall ahead, its windows glowing faintly with warm light and yet tonight, even that warmth felt distant. As she stepped inside, the halls were unusually quiet. Then she heard the sound of heavy breathing and whispers. And it's coming from Joshua’s room. Nishi froze for a moment. Her heart started beating faster. He wasn’t supposed to be here tonight. The small gift box slipped slightly in her hand as her fingers trembled. Slowly, she walked toward the door. Each step heavier than the last. Her heart… already starting to crack for reasons she didn’t understand. Her fingers shook as she pushed the door open. The gift fell from her hand. And then her world ended. Joshua was there, naked, sweaty and in his arms was Meera. Her mother's sister, Nishi's aunt. They are the most intimate positions. The sound of a bed creaking reminds us how active they are. His hand gripped her waist. Her fingers digging his bare back pulled him close. Their kissing and moaning sounds filled the room. Nishi put her hand to her mouth and held her sob. Her tearful eyes meet Meera. She smirks playfully. “Joshua… Don't stop…. Harder....” Aunt moans like having lots of pleasure. “Anything you wish dear…” Joshua groans. Nishi stares at them with a broken heart. Joshua was her mate and Meera was her aunt. Totally different relations. Never meant to meet. But these two cross like. Not just relation lines. They cross all emotional lines. Nishi never thought two people she loved and cared about could betrayaled like this. After her parents' death, Meera was one of Nishi's family. But she became an orphan once again. A sharp, broken sound escaped Nishi’s lips. Both of them turned. Joshua’s expression hardened instantly. He didn't move away in panic. No fear of regret on his face. He slowly pulled back and wrapped the bed sheet around Meera. Worry she may have caught a cold. Meera smirked and stepped out of bed with the help of Joshua. “Oh, Nishi… I'm sorry… We didn't mean you to find us like this… I was going to tell her.” Meera shifts her face to sadness as she grabs Nishi's hand. Joshua pulled Meera back gently. “Let me handle this,” Joshua said in a gentle tone. Meera hugs Joshua’s arm and shows an evil smirk. That tiny, cruel curve of her lips shattered whatever hope Nishi had left. “Nishi… what you see is true. Meera and I love each other.” Joshua said, his voice low. But she didn’t hear him. She didn’t want to. “But I am your mate. How can you betray me like this?” Her vision blurred with tears as rage exploded inside her chest. “I know we are mates. But I don't want this bond. As you can see… I already chose my Luna. So better we proceed with rejection as soon as possible.” He said coldly. Nishi's eyes widen in shock. “Rejection! How can you decide our future like this? And all this because of her. A homebreaker witch!!” she choked, stepping forward. Her hand lifted to slap Meera. “Nishi, I'm sorry…” Meera hid behind Joshua. Her wrist was grabbed by Joshua in mid-air. His grip is so hard. Pain shot through her arm. “Enough. I'm Alpha. And I had the right to decide who was going to stand beside me. And I chose my Luna. I don't want a half-blood woman as Luna. You'd better accept the truth.” His voice was cold. Sharp. Nishi stared at him. At the man who once promised her he would protect her, love her. They will make a complete family. A sweet family she has never had before. Now he was stopping her. For someone else. “She’s my aunt! She knew you were my mate. How could you two betray me?!” Nishi’s voice broke. Joshua’s grip tightened. His red eyes turn more red like fighting inside. “You don’t understand the situation.” He growled. “Then explain it!” She screamed. For a moment silence filled the room. And then Meera gently placed her hand over her stomach. That small movement changed everything. “I think she deserves to know, Joshua,” Meera said softly. Joshua didn’t stop her. And that silence was louder than any confession. “We’ve been together for a while now, Nishi. I was scared to tell you. It happens before you find out that Joshua is your mate. And I was never meant to tell you like this. But we can't hide this anymore. You need to hear the truth.” Meera continued, her voice calm and almost gentle. Each word stabbed deeper in Nishi's heart. “What truth? What is left behind now?” Nishi's lips tremble. “We are expecting a child.” Her fingers pressed slightly against her belly. The world stopped completely. Nishi’s ears rang the words again and again. Her body went numb. “…no… Not this… You are lying to me…” She whispered. Her eyes moved to Joshua. Waiting for him to deny it. To say it was a lie. A mistake or anything. But he didn’t do that. He stood there unbothered. Silently confirmed everything. “I wasn’t going to tell you like this, Nishi. But now you know it. Accept it.” He said coldly. Something inside her snapped. “You’re my mate!” she cried. “I know.” His calmness destroyed her more than anger ever could. “And I’m choosing differently.” That sentence crushed her soul. Before she could react hands grabbed her. Joshua‘s trustworthy Beta Alex was behind her grabbing her by the arm. “Take her to the rejection poll,” Joshua commanded coldly. “Yes, Alpha,” Alex said in a robotic tone and he dragged her away. “Let me go! Alex! You know this?” she struggled, tears streaming down her face. “Yes. Our Alpha chose his luna. And as his Beta, I'm doing my duty. Now come on.” Alex said as he dragged Nishi with one hand unbothered by Nishi's struggle. “Joshua! Look at me! Please, don't do this to me….” Nishi tried to speak. But he didn’t come. Didn’t stop them. He just shut the door to continue what he left. **** She was dragged out of the pack house, into the freezing night, her feet slipping against the snow. The cold bit into her skin, but she couldn’t feel it. Not when her heart was being torn apart. The courtyard was already filled with people she knew. They were all just watching. Whispering like they already knew what was going on. Alex locked her one arm to a cold silver chain that was made for criminals. She tied it to a freezing pole. Her body shivered in the cold wind. And the silver chain was burning her wrist. “Stay here. Alpha will be here soon.” Beta Alex said. “Why are you doing this, Alex?” Nishi asked in a low tone. Alex stops and looks at her cold face. Nishi noticed something in his eyes as well. “This is Alpha’s decision. We are all here to respect his decision. Don't struggle, it will hurt you more.” Alex stepped back as he finished saying. His voice shows worry for her little. Nishi's eyes tear up again. She looked up to the sky. Moon was witnessing her miserable life. After some time had passed Joshua came back. Meera is with him. Nishi turned her face away. She didn't want to see those two. Her wolf was restless, but it didn't leave her. Alex stepped forward, holding the silver dagger. And she understood. “No…” she shook her head weakly. But it was already happening. Joshua walked out slowly. Meera is behind him. Hand over her stomach. Keep reminding her that she won Joshua. Joshua took the blade. Without hesitation cut his palm. Blood dripped onto the snow. “I, Alpha Joshua Harper…” his voice echoed coldly, “reject you, Nishi Peter, as my mate.” The world shattered. Pain exploded inside her chest. She collapsed to her knees, a scream tearing out of her throat. It felt like something was ripping her apart from the inside. Her wolf howled in agony. She clawed at the snow, gasping for breath. But the pain didn’t stop. It only grew. “You… promised… You won't leave my hand.” she whispered brokenly. Joshua’s face didn’t change. “I will not accept weak blood into my lineage.” He said. Weak. That word destroyed whatever remained of her. “And the child?” she laughed bitterly through tears. “That’s what matters, right?” His silence was his final answer. “Leave the pack before sunrise.” Joshua’s final words came like a death sentence. Her head snapped up. “If you ever return…” his eyes turned merciless, “…you will be treated as a rogue.” Her eyes widened in shock. He not just rejected her, he banished her from her pack. The pack stepped away from her. Like she was nothing. Like she never belonged to them. Slowly shaking Nishi stood. Alex unlocked the chain from her wrist. Tears fell endlessly. But her eyes burned with rage. “I won’t beg,” she said, her voice hoarse but firm. “Not for someone who never saw my worth.” For a second Joshua hesitated. Just a second. Then he turned away. And took Meera with him. Arms around her like he is protecting her from any harm. That hurt more than anything else. Nishi let out a broken breath. Meera turned her face back to Nishi. She saw a cruel, cold smirk on Meera's face. Like mocking her miserable life. Nishi first tightened. She knew his Aunt seduced Joshua and used her child to get Luna's title. Nishi turned and walked away. Snow fell harder now, covering her footprints as if she had never existed. Halfway through the forest her body gave in. She stumbled, clutching her chest as pain returned violently. The bond… It was supposed to disappear. So why was it still there? Burning, but still Alive. Her wolf stirred weakly. Nishi fell to her knees in the snow, tears freezing against her skin. “I don’t need him…” She whispered. But her voice trembled. Far away… Beyond the mountains in the northern area. Four Alpha Kings suddenly lifted their heads. Their instincts roared awake. Because something rare had just entered the world. ****
