Chapter 12: The Great City of Mar
Dorian stared blankly into the burning forest. Memories of his old friend Paerlio and the burning Grotto returned to him. The charred trees crackled around them as the fire spread. Xia sat staring into the lake. Her gaze was distant, frozen with a fearful expression of futility.
“Xia, are you all right?” Kaya asked.
“S…she wasn’t even trying. She was just toying with me,” Xia whispered.
“They were all just toying with us,” Dorian interjected.
“Xia, Rin. We need you two to tend to the wounded quickly, so that we may be on our way. I am certain that they intended to halt our progress,” Julius urged.
“Indeed Julius,” Rin eagerly replied.
Xia remained still, blankly staring at her reflection in the water as Rin leaped into action to mend Diamos and Luca
