The alarm sounds, waking me from a restless slumber. My head throbs as I sit up. I had too much to drink last night again after I kept dreaming about the light grey she-wolf. She has plagued my dreams for a few months. Hyde has become insistent that she is our ever-elusive fated mate. At thirty-two years old, I have given up hope of having a mate. Everyone around me has a mate, even my little sister, Melinda, who has a mate and four pups.
‘She’s out there, our mate,’ Hyde speaks up.
I ignore him and roll out of bed to start my day. I have a busy schedule ahead, not to mention I have to go to the royal territory for the annual Mating Ball. King Beau finally talked me into going again. I have avoided it for the last ten years.
