THE TREK BACK TO THE pack grounds was a long one, punctuated with a cold fear sinking through Alexis’s bones. She wanted nothing more than to curl up and cease to exist. In the end, it would have been far easier than trying to keep her feet moving under her at a steady pace. Her mother hadn’t spoken a word since they had left the clearing. Cold fear traveled through Alexis with each step forward.
She had ruined absolutely everything. Noemi was going to die. Anton was going to die. She was going to die. There was nothing that they could do about it. This was going to end in bloodshed.
