Amara. “Amara…” His voice reached me from where I stood, trying to gather what was left of my things. “Huh?” I yelled, frantically, my back still turned against him. “Calm down,” he said, so calm it made my blood simmer. My eyes widened as anger surged through me, my nose flaring, skin burning with rage and humiliation I couldn’t shake. And the man responsible stood there, infuriatingly composed, like he hadn’t just starved me. Fine. Lucien. Two can play that game. I ignored him and continued scanning the room, searching for my shoes. One lay at the far end of the room, the other a few meters away. Can't believe he flung my expensive shoes that far. It's the audacity for me. The silence closed in as I crossed the room and bent to pick it up, struggling to slide it back on. Luc
