R H E A Right when I think he's about to shove me away, I feel a pair of powerful arms wrap around me, hands snaking around my waist and settling firmly. I raise my eyebrows slightly, not expecting his lips to feel so soft, and I find myself melting into his touch, our bodies slowly pressing against each other as if he were made for me, and I was made for him. The kiss is possessive and passionate, his lips gliding over mine effortlessly, sending my head spinning and a quiet moan escaping my mouth. I don't want it to stop, but suddenly, I remember where I am, and what the hell I'm doing. I freeze for a second before pulling away from the stranger abruptly, still feeling his arms around me. He stares down at me with raised eyebrows before a slow impressed smile forms on his lips. "Did you enjoy that, bella...?" His voice is deep and smooth, with a hint of an accent, which immediately makes me weak in the knees. "Y-yes..." I mumble without thinking before I shake my head, trying to snap myself out of it, nervously letting go of his neck and slipping out of his hold. "I-I mean... Shit... I'm so sorry..." I begin rambling and that's when I notice 2 large men standing right behind him, keeping watch as if to make sure no one comes near him. T of look like bodyguards with the way they're dressed... "You don't seem like you regret that." He answers, bringing my attention back to him and finding him seemingly amused by my reaction, leaving me utterly confused as I stare back at him, a frown now forming on my face. "You're not... upset...?" I question him, and he places one in his pocket, the other reaching up to his lips, where I would see smudges of my red lip gloss. "I can't say I've ever had a woman be so... direct with me..." He answers, his tone sly and dangerous. Something about him tells me I should run the opposite direction and never turn back... But at the same time, something else draws me to him, like a magnet I can't fight off... I'm at a loss for words as I stare back at him, not having a clue what to say. And that's when I catch a group of women in the corner of my eye, staring back at me with utter shock. My eyebrows crease in further confusion as I continue to look around, and soon notice that they're not the only ones looking at me like this. Everyone close to us has their eyes on us, as if they can't believe their eyes, as if they can't believe what I just did... I become even more nervous and turn back to the handsome stranger, finding him staring back at me with curiosity, as if he is waiting for a response, a smile still visible on his lips. Those perfect, full, sweet lips... Okay, snap out of it Rhea! "Again... I'm sorry... I... I have to go..." I let out quickly, backing away before spinning around, not giving the opportunity to respond to me. I really can't believe I just did that. I push past the sea of people, some of them still having their eyes on me, others still locking lips under the mistletoe. I manoeuvre my way back to the bar where I would find both Cassie and her man friend still behind the bar counter, both of them staring back at me with pure shock. "If I ever do something like that again, slap me across the face..." I huff as soon as I reach the counter, leaning on it for support as my head spins from the adrenaline and alcohol. "Rhea are f*cking crazy?" Cassie suddenly snaps at me, and I frown at her. I'm confused. "What are you talking about..?. You're the one who dared me!" I yell back, and that's when she glances back at the bartender before rushing around the counter and fast-walking over to me. "Oh my gosh, you have no idea who that is... Do you?" She says as she grabs my arm tightly making me glance down at her hand before looking back at her, fear now making its way into my body. "N-No...? Should I?" I answer her and she glances into the crowd as if searching for someone before looking back at me. "You're joking." She answers, "Come on, we need to get out of here..." She says suddenly, trying to tug me away, but I stand my ground and pull her backwards. "What why? Cassandra who was that?" I ask her and she looks around once again before looking back at the bartender, her brows furrowed as if she is conflicted. That's when she takes out her phone and holds it out to the bartender. "Call me?" Cassie says and the bartender takes her phone, tapping the screen a few times and putting in his number before handing over the phone. "Be safe out there." He responds just as Cassie takes her phone and smiles back at the man. "Alex... I'll see you soon..." She smiles at him, right before her expression changes entirely and she shifts her gaze back to me. "Let's go chica." She rushes out and with all her force, she tugs on my arm, pulling me out of the club as if there was a fire and we needed to escape. Before I realise it we are outside and making our way down the street. "Cassie slow down, still a little inebriated over here!" I complain, stumbling over my heels as I tug her to a standstill. "Have you been living under a rock?!" She lets out exasperatedly, her voice clear now that we are away from all that loud music. "Have you met me? I don't leave the house unless I'm doing grocery shopping. Now could you explain what the hell is going on!" I snap back at her, trying to figure out why she is panicking so much. That's when she grabs both my shoulders, making me look her in the eye, and the seriousness that stares back at me, makes my heart sink. "That man you just kissed... That's Micheal Vescari..." She explains and I begin frowning at her, turning my head slightly to the right. "Is that supposed to ring a bell...?" I ask her and that's when she glances around us and steps closer to me, and that's when I see genuine fear in her eyes... "The Vescari family... Is the richest in the city... Micheal is a billionaire, and he owns that club..." She carries on and my eyebrows rise in surprise. That would explain a lot. The suit, the cologne, the way he carried himself. Of course, he owns the building. "Oh sh*t..." I mumble, finally placing two and two together. "Yeah..." She answers, huffing lightly and finally letting go of my shoulders. "Okay so I kissed the owner of the club, and he's super rich... Doesn't explain why everyone was looking at me as if I had just killed someone..." I shrug and that's when Cassie looks back at me, her expression making my blood run cold. "Because..." She begins, and at this point I can feel my heart thumping in my throat... "The Vescari family, isn't just some rich family... They're also the most dangerous crime syndicate in all of New York City... And Micheal... Is the Don..." She finally tells me and that's when my heart sinks to my feet, fear now coursing through my blood. "You mean like the Mafia...? You're telling me I kissed a Mafia leader?" I am almost too terrified to say. Before Cassie can response, her attention shifts to something behind me, and that's when she grabs my arm again, pulling me close to her. I then turn around slowly, preparing myself for what I might face, and that's when I see him... Micheal Vescari... He's stepped out of the club, surrounded by the same bodyguards I saw earlier. He says something to one of them, and soon their attention turns towards us...
