I moved to follow after Lucia's retreating form but svelte arms wrapped around me from behind, halting me.
"Please stay with me, I need you." Marissa whispered.
I tried to pry her hands off but she shifted to my front and once again threw her arms around me. "Stop this, Marissa." I grated.
I glanced in Lucia's direction, catching her right as her head spun around and she rushed away. My ire spiked and I used more strength than intended to shove Marissa away. I clearly warned her to not stray away from me, but she had to act on impulse.
