Several weeks after Merrick had laid down the law, as Ryan had begun to think of it, Ryan began to resent being housebound. He was also bored. True, he’d begun working on the winter drawings, and they were progressing as well as could be expected, given the fact Merrick often wanted him to spend the evenings with him, not in the studio. And then there was the fact Ryan couldn’t go out to look for more ideas unless Merrick was with him.
Does he honestly think I’m going to…what? Meet a lover? Run away? He knows I love him. God only knows I’ve proven that every night for the last month. And every day, too, what with cooking and cleaning and, damn, sometimes it feels as if I don’t have time to draw any more.
