Lord Templeton’s letter continued,
“What is essential is that no one, and I mean no one, should have any idea that your niece and I even know each other.”
Sir James read the letter through twice.
Then he thought that Lord Templeton was right.
The one thing to be avoided at all costs was the gossip that would occur if anyone had the slightest idea that a woman was travelling with him, even worse if they got to know by some unusual means that the woman was in fact the niece of Sir James Redwell.
He did not show the letter to Amina.
He merely said,
“There is no hurry. We are to go aboard the yacht at nine o’clock. At least you will, while I say goodbye in the carriage that carries us there.”
