The Siren's Song

Layla's point of View

"What is this?" I asked my mother as she handed me the bag. I opened the bag and pulled out a golden dagger and a vial.

My mother sat down next to me and said, "When I found out about Tess being his child I went to the dark witch coven and asked them about sirens. Naturally, they laughed because no one has seen a siren in years but once they knew I wasn't joking they handed me the dagger. If you take the vial and pour it on a mirror it will show Layla's true nature. When she sees what she truly is, the killer she is then you stab her in the heart with the dagger. Nothing will save her."

I looked at the dagger and smiled and then back at my mother. "Why?"

"Because she took what belonged to you. To us."

I put the stuff back into the bag and then hugged my mother. "Thank you."

"I would do anything for you."

"I know. I should head back."

"Make me proud."

After lunch, with my parents, I grabbed my stuff and began to head back to the pack. It didn't take long to return home and I didn't tell Ben I was heading home but as I pulled up to our house my heart sank. Normally he was there when I pulled in waiting for me but this time he wasn't. I pulled my suitcase out of the car and headed in. As I put everything away I looked at the bag I placed on the bed and stared at it. Could I do this? Ya, I could I thought as a smile crossed my face.

I picked the bag up and put it in my underwear drawer under everything. I couldn't let Ben see it.

Once I was done I decided to find Ben. He wasn't answering his phone. As I was walking I saw Duke one of the patrolmen and walked up to him.

"Hey, Duke."

"Hey, Layla. What's up?" He said with a smile on his face. Duke was a gorgeous man with dark curly hair, an eight pack, and a thick d**k. Yes, we had slept together several times and he made my p***y not only satisfied but also tingle.

"Have you seen Ben?"

"Ya, he is at the lake. Guess Tess discovered something."

"Oh okay. Thank you."

As I began to walk away he grabbed my arm and gave me the look. "Text me a time and place," I said as the spot his arm touched started to tingle.

He pulled me closer and whispered, "now is a good time. You have been ignoring me."

"I have been busy."

"Since he is busy let's go."

"I can't but tomorrow I can."

Duke sighed and nodded. "Till then," and he let go of me and began to whistle as he walked away.

I looked around and could elderly Mrs. Jackson frowning and I just smiled at her. I knew some pack members knew about my cheating but no one dared to say a thing because they knew what I would do. Kill them.

I walked towards the lake and as I walked through the tree line there was Ben, Rick, and several pack members standing by the lake. Tess was in the water bringing about someone and that's when I noticed three others standing there in a daze.

I approached them and as I did Ben turned around and then smiled at me. He walked towards me and as we were inches apart he said, "why didn't you tell me you were home?"

"I called but you did not answer," I said as I made a sad face.

Ben pulled his phone out but didn't show any emotion. "It was on silent. I'm sorry honey."

"It's okay. What is going on?"

"Tess is bringing up four teens from the water. She has been vetting those trapped in the lake and she says these four had no clue what was going on. They were just following their parents."

"Oh."

"Ya. Come stand with me."

I smiled, grabbed his hand, and walked over with him as Tess brought the last teen over.

"Anyone else?" Rick asked as she and the teen walked towards them.

"No. It's a slow process but these four are good."

"What now?" I asked causing everyone to look at me.

"Well if they want to stay they need to prove themselves. How long till they snap out of it?" He asked Tess.

"One moment," she said as she turned the first teen to them. She looked into their eyes and started to hum. The glazed look in the teen's eyes started to go away and soon their eyes were back to normal. She did this for the other three.

"What is going on?" One of the boys asked as he looked around.

"I am alpha Rick and your on my pack lands. Do you remember what happened?"

"My parents told me that we were joining a pack. As we approached the pack with others joining next thing I knew we were fighting and then I'm here now. What happened?"

"What about the rest of you?" Alpha Rick asked the others.

"Same," they said in unison.

"We were not expecting anyone to join our pack. You were part of an attack on my pack. "

The girl in the group gasped and I wanted to laugh.

"Are you going to kill us?" The other boy asked. You could smell the fear coming off of him.

"No, but if you want to join a pack I will let you join mine but you must prove yourself."

"I would like to join," the two females said together and then each boy nodded their heads.

"Do you know where our parents are?"

"Yes. I have them trapped under the water. If they are pure I will bring them up to the surface."

"And if there not?" One of the girls asked.

"Then they will die."

The young girl broke down in tears and the one guy pulled her into him.

"My beta will get you each a place to stay."

"Thank you," the boys said.

"I will meet you at home in about an hour," Ben said as he kissed my head.

"Okay."

As I watched Ben walk away I heard alpha Rick say, "you did well."

"Thank you. This will take time. I can only vet so many a day."

"That's okay Tess. Take your time."

"Thank you, Rick. I am going to take a nap now. I am drained."

I watched Tess go back into the water and I smiled. Soon I will have her head.
