Taken to the Abbey
When I emerged nearly an hour later, they accompanied me back to my room and locked the door once we’d entered. It took them only short minutes to refit me with my System and I was so sunk in a sea of misery that I just let them put it on me; barely twitching when the awful thing re-calibrated itself, then, without a word, they brought out a plain, floor-length, grey cotton robe and dropped it over my head. I shivered violently with the sensations of once more being contained and controlled, then stood still while they fastened the robe’s buttons up my back.
