Chapter 7 Two days later, shortly after noon, I finish teaching a class of freshmen basic writing skills; the use of characterization, theme, and rising action. I stand at the front of my classroom at West End College and erase the massive dry erase board. Two male students (Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson look-alikes) cradle their tomes in their arms and exit Room 242 in Carlton Hall. I have the next hour off before my next class. As long arm-swings are carried out on the dry erase board, Dayton surprises me and walks into the classroom. He sports a wide-mouthed grin, sunglasses, tight tee snug against his well-built chest, khaki shorts, and sandals. “Hey you,” I say, flattered to see him. I finish erasing the dry board with two strokes, and direct all of my attention to him. As usual,
