Chapter 5: Alone Without YouThat was the start of it. Oskar—Sergeant Eriksen—couldn’t seem to take the hint that I had no desire to be his friend or…anything else; he always came back. Even when I flat out told him, “Go ‘way, kid, you bother me,” he just grinned.

“Eriksen!”
He winked and walked away, whistling a song I recognized as being popular the year we left Terra, but the next time I turned around, there he was again.
In my quarters—Flowers native to Nibiru but reminiscent of Terran roses would appear, and no matter how many times I dropped them in the waste basket, new ones would be there the next time I returned to my room.
