Chapter 21
Aunt Kerry won the argument.
The argument being a fiercely whispered one between Mum and Aunt Kerry in the kitchen—which Jude and Anton, in the living room with the TV on low and throwing toys for Molly, could hear every word of regardless—about whether it was appropriate to allow Jude to sleep in Anton’s room. Aunt Kerry voted yes, as they were both boys. Mum voted no, because ‘they’re hardly just friends, Kerry!’
“Oh please,” Jude said quietly, reaching to scratch Molly between the ears. “Like I need to be in your room to molest you.”
“I think there has to be an element of me not wanting you to do it if it’s molestation,” Anton confessed, and Jude grinned.
“Now there’s an invite if I ever heard one.”
“Maybe.”
Judging by the clattering in the airing cupboard and then in
