“So how much trouble are you in?”
Jude laughed. “Don’t I get a hello?”
Anton grinned, flopping back onto his bed, phone glued to his ear. Mrs. Salter had gone ballistic, and sent six kids to the headmaster for fighting. Parents had been called…especially after Jude had swung another punch Thorne’s way outside the head’s office.
“Hello. There, happy? Now what’s going on?”
“Dad went mental. Aunt Lucy went double-mental. I’m grounded until I’m thirty-five, and Emma smuggled me dessert.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, she reckons it was justified. For once, I’m not the dumb lout stepbrother she usually thinks I am!”
“Congratulations?”
“Thanks. I’m going to sneak out later, though.”
“And go where?”
“Your bed.”
