“What’s that? I don’t remember seeing a ring on your finger before.” Cody says, and I froze, thinking about what to say without being suspicious.
“Hmm… it’s just a ring I bought in the mall the other day when we were shopping.” I lie and he nods his head, frowning a bit. I hope he believes me.
“It’s nice.” He says finally and I smile at him.
We just got back from the mall. It was so good to see my brother. I really missed him and this ring gives me a feeling that I am safe. “Do you want to go to the beach?” He asks suddenly as we walk into the living room and my face lit up.
