Jim had debated briefly between going home versus following Alan. Of course, following had won out. The area where Alan lived was a mix of apartment buildings and private homes. Jim discovered that as he tailed Alan, staying far enough back that neither Alan, nor anyone else, would know what he was doing. If we’re right, the bastard’s already there somewhere, waiting. But if he’s following Alan, I don’t want him to know I am, too. As soon as he saw Alan go up the drive next to one of the buildings, Jim pulled into a vacant spot on the street. Turning the car off, he eased out, closing the door silently. Now all I have to do is hope to hell the officers watching Alan’s lot don’t think I’m the killer. He had no idea where Alan parked, except that it wasn’t on the same side as the driveway
