Chapter 14 Alan showed up for breakfast at Bannock’s as promised, both Sunday and Monday. When he arrived Monday morning, he saw a woman he didn’t recognize at the hostess stand, instead of the man that Jim had told him was the owner of the restaurant. When he gave her his name and phone number, she eyed him, her glance going to the scar on his head, which was now much less visible, since his hair had begun growing in enough to start covering it. “That must have hurt,” she said compassionately. “A bit of an understatement,” he replied. “But I survived.” “Car accident?” “Umm, we’ll go with that,” Alan agreed.
