Chapter fourteen - I want to go with you

Jayden's POV: I presented my project two days ago. The teacher liked it. I have a good grade. He said we might have similar projects next year. We'll have related courses as well. The good news is that the semester finished. There are exams now, but I managed to free myself from them. My grades are good enough. None of my friends will go. I have three weeks before the start of the new one. I chose my courses. I will have only six without the project one. This class won't have lectures. You only meet with the teacher if you need help or to ask something. It's a group one. I have no idea who will make the groups. I would love to work with my friends. That is if they want the same. For now, I plan to rest. Mom said she wouldn't bother me. According to her, I deserve the break. That's why I accepted before she changed her mind. Dad only wanted to see my grades. It's not like I don't tell them. Mom is with the lessons. Dad checks our grades. That includes my sister. He wants to know we are doing good. No failure is acceptable. It's not like I have a problem with that. I have found ways to study faster and more effectively. Sometimes, I invite my friends. It feels better when we do it together. I don't have any plans for my break, but I want to spend it with my best friends. I hope that we find something fun to do. My little vacation has started. It's only for the people who managed to free up their exams. Others have to study. I'm glad that I don't have a problem with that. The boys wanted us to have a sleepover one day. It's called a slumber party, but only girls use this. I told them we couldn't leave Bailey. She is our friend. Tom said she could sleep with me. No, thanks. We are friends, but that's it. I don't want to cross the line. She put it. It's not like I will do something with her. I can't. I woke up an hour ago to an empty house. My parents are at work, and Ally is at school. I texted my friends to come over. Luckily, all of them agreed to do it. We can do something inside. I haven't planned anything. I'm sure Tom has things on his mind. This boy is full of ideas. Not all of them are good. Sometimes, I wonder what is going on in his brain. It's probably like a party there. I won't ask. This will be too much information for me. - You should think about the sleepover. - Tom said - Don't you forget about someone? - She will be with you. - What are you talking about? - Bailey asked - Didn't he tell you? - Tell me what? I don't understand. - We want to have a sleepover. You are invited. - And? - Only two rooms are available at home, and you will sleep with Jayden. - What? I better sleep on the ground or not come at all. - Hey! I'm right here. - I'm sorry, but I will sleep with a boy only if we are dating. - You never know what might happen. - Tom said, chuckling - No way! I better don't come. Have fun. - Come on. We can't exclude you. - Why not? All you will talk about is boy stuff and play video games. Where do I fit into this? - This is not true. We'll pay attention to you. I might let you pick a game. - How generous? No, thanks. - If it's because of me, I won't go. - I can come, but without the sleepover part. - Then where is the fun? - Andrew asked - I will be there. What else do you want? - To stay with us. - Why is it so important? Are you planning to prank me? - No, why would you think that? - Why wouldn't I? - No one will do this to you. We only don't want you to feel betrayed. - This sounds like something Jayden will say. - It's true. He wanted us to take you. - What? Really? - The boy feels bad for you. - So none of you wants me there. - I only will say you will get bored. - Tom said - Thanks. How nice. - It's the truth. - Ok, let her decide. Also, we never said when. - I said - Today. - What? No, I'm not ready. Another day. - Why not? - Because I can't. I planned to chill tonight. Alone. - Fine. It will be until the end of the week. Bailey, think about this. - Tom said - I probably won't change my mind, but ok. All of us stayed at home for lunch. The boys wanted us to order pizza. Bailey was ok with that. I can't let her think we make decisions without asking her. After some time, Ally came home from school. She immediately ran up to my best friend. These two have something special. They understand each other so well. Soon, she looked at me with puppy eyes. This is not a good sign. She wants something from me. Please, help me. Whatever it is, I will say no. I don't have time to deal with her. She can forget about it. - Whatever it is, my answer is no. - But I didn't even say it. - Ally said - No. - Can I at least ask you about it? - What do you want? - Will you come with me to Kali's concert? - Why would I do that? - So you can have fun. Please. Pretty please. - Since you said it like that. No. - Come on, Jayden. She only wants you to take her to the concert. Is it that much? - Bailey asked - Yes, it is. I don't have time for this. - Why not? - Because the sleepover is the same day. - I never said when her concert was. - I don't care about this. My answer is no. Ask my mom. - Mom said she can't do it. She has plans. - Dad? - No, he can't either. - I know who can take you. - Really? Who? - Bailey. She loves spending time with you. Ask her. - But I want to go with you. What can I do to convince you? - Nothing. - If you don't do it, I'll make Bailey dump you. - This girl is savage. - Tom said, chuckling - We are not dating. - I said - But you still care. - She won't take advice from a kid. - Why not? I might do it. - Bailey said - You can't be serious. She is only twelve. - Will you take her? - No, and I won't miss you. Bailey didn't say anything. Maybe she got offended, but I don't care. I don't understand why Ally wants me to go with her so much. I'm sure she hasn't asked our parents. One of them will agree to go. This is why I texted both of them. My suspicions were correct. Mom said she never talked with her about it. Bailey and Ally went to my sister's room. Andrew, Tom, and I watched movies. We might go out tonight. I'll let them decide. - Why don't you want to take her? She doesn't want anything else. - Tom said - Because I'm not her babysitter. - Is it only because of that? I think it has something to do with Kali. - Why? - You always have a beef with her. - As you can see, I haven't bothered her soon. - But you still did it. Man, it's only a concert. - That's what you think. My sister will never get a regular ticket. She always wants to meet her. - So? There is nothing wrong with that. After all, many people do it. - I don't want to be in a place with screaming kids. - Are all of her fans kids? - Yes, they are. The adults there are the parents. - I think you can make an exception. - Andrew said - If I do it now, she will think I'm always available. - She is your sister. - This won't change anything. - Do you think Bailey will dump you for real? - Yes, I do. She won't talk to me until I take Ally. That won't happen. - So you will risk your friendship because of a concert. Are you insane? - Maybe I am. It's her loss. I still have you. - Yes, but you care about her. - This doesn't mean I will always do it. People change. - Is this what you think about me? - Bailey asked - Maybe. Do you care? - Maybe. - Don't act like I hurt your feelings. We know it's not true. - I don't know who is talking with me, but it's not Jayden. - So? - Nothing. Enjoy being alone. I'm ditching the sleepover. - she said and left - Really? - Andrew asked - Yes. I planned to spend the rest of the day with the boys, but they cut me off. I guess they are mad at me as well. It's not like I care. I walked out for some time. Later, I came home for dinner. I love my mom's food. It's delicious. Ally decided not to talk to me. I won't change her mind no matter what she does. After dinner, I walked to my room. Mom came to check on me. I'm sure she had a work with my sister. I have made my decision. No one will change it. - If it's about the stupid concert. - No, it has nothing to do with that. - Then? - On the way home from work, I met Bailey. - Oh, great. - She told me my son was the biggest i***t she had ever met. Can I know what you did? - Nothing. - Jayden. - I swear. She said she wouldn't talk to me until I took Ally to the concert. I said no and that I won't miss her. - Why would you say that? - Why not? Ally can't keep getting everything she wants. - She asked you for one thing. - Yes, now. She will get used to it. I'm not her toy. - No one said that. - It looks exactly like this. I don't care if she is younger. I won't do anything for her. - Why not? - Because it will never be the opposite. She hasn't done one thing for me. - Jayden, your sister is twelve. What do you want her to do for you? - To leave me alone. She can't get everything she wants. I never did. - That is not true. - Don't make me tell you every time you refused something I wanted. Ally gets everything. I'm not blind. - We have talked about this. - Make her stay away from me. - I can't do that. - Fine, but she won't go. You will take her. - Jayden. - Ground me if you want. I won't go. - Fine. I will go with her, but this doesn't mean you can escape from your responsibilities like a brother. - Watch me. - Maybe Bailey is right. You are not the son I used to have. - I wish I could say the same about you. - I'll be downstairs if you need me. I stayed in my room until I went to bed. I texted Bailey, but she was determined not to talk to me. It's her loss. I'm tired of doing everything for everyone. When will someone do something for me? I want to do things without caring what other people say about me. It looks like a mission impossible. This was my mistake. I care too much. Now, when I do something for myself, everyone is offended. I can take Ally to the concert, but I won't do it. She can't keep getting what she wants. I'm not blind. One day, she will learn, but it will be too late. I hope that my mom will take care of it.
