“Suit yourself,” Max shrugged. “It was just a suggestion. Maybe you need some time to think without everyone around you and feelings getting all involved.”
“You are right, though, I probably shouldn’t base my life around having a mate. Maybe that’s the lesson. Roman lied, Callum betrayed me. My brother is a dumb ass. Maybe the whole mate thing is what it is…stupid.” She looked up toward the blue sky. “I’ve lived a lot of my life tied to whatever would come from a mate bond, but maybe the goddess meant for me to live my life differently.”
