Chapter 10Jesse knew Foster wouldn’t lurk behind trees or jump out at him from the shadows, but even so, he kept his eyes peeled as he hurried through the rain to his car. The thought of Foster teleporting into the seat next to him entered his mind and refused to leave it. It didn’t matter that Foster couldn’t kill him; it wouldn’t stop the other Guardian from trying to harm him. But Foster didn’t pop up in his rearview mirror or otherwise make himself known.
