Over the next few days, Emberly continued to contemplate the words heard at the meeting in the War Room. The Etruscan army had been massacred in a location all of the knights had trained in. The village of Cesario–and the duke himself–were gone now. The Cyrans had easily won this battle.
One evening, a quiet knock sounded on Emberly’s door, followed by a piece of parchment sliding under the door. Kyra retrieved it for Emberly, reading it first. It was through Kyra’s confused expression that Emberly knew this note was not from Will. “It’s just a date, time, and place,” said Kyra as she handed the parchment to her.
