Remy fake cleared his throat. The awkward silence enveloped the whole house. It was only broke when Kristine went to Jaxon and gave him a hug, just like what she did to Ace.
Jaxon playfully messed with Kristine's hair. "Hey there, smart girl." He then turns his gaze towards Jake, Ace, and me. "You got visitors?" he meaningfully asked.
"Athan..." Ace lends his hand, formally offering a handshake to Jaxon.
"Jaxon," he answered and accepted Ace's hand. "I thought your name is Ace?" The stiffness of his voice didn't escape my ears.
"I only let people who are close to me call me by that name."
Ace's tone reminds me of the first night we met... The time when I begged him for the contract. It was dark, out of humor, and vicious.
