“He was hiding in my car. He hit me over the back of the head. I can’t believe I didn’t see him hiding.” Joshua shakes his head and winces.
“But are you all right?” Elijah asks, freeing his dad’s hands.
“I’ll be fine. What happened to his gun?” Joshua asks, and then he looks over Elijah’s shoulder.
Elijah looks too. Chogan is standing there frozen.
“You’re a witch,” Elijah says. It’s not a question. He’s sure that what Ricky said was true.
“Yes,” Chogan says, and then he turns and runs. Elijah wants to go after him, but he needs to get his dad free and check him out.
“Jayden, will you be able to find him?” Elijah asks him as he keeps working on Joshua’s ropes.
Jayden pads over, his collar jingling slightly, and nods before sitting down on the ground beside Joshua.
