CHAPTER 19: Maggie

Maggie had never felt such burning on her skin. She dropped onto the chair, grabbing a towel and rubbing it along her legs.
“Maggie, what happened?” Terry put Davy down.
“Dig.” The toddler grabbed the shovel and started playing in the sand while Izzy and Peter stood behind Terry, their little faces filled with worry.
“I don’t know. My legs. They’re burning.”
“Are you okay, Mommy?” asked Izzy.
“Yes, honey. I’ll be fine.”
Terry knelt next to her, running his hand across her skin. “Does this hurt?”
“Yes, but no more than before.” She ducked down by his ear. “It also burns down there.”
“Where? Here?” He ran his hand over her calf.
“Yes, but that’s not the place I’m talking about. My privates,” she whispered.
