Chapter 14: Rescued
As the sound got closer, I lifted my head, opened the driver’s side door, and stepped out into the cool, West Virginia night.
I looked up to see giant wings spread out in the sky above me. A good look revealed to me that it was the Mothman, but I had known that already. He slowly lowered himself in front of me, this time, landing only about five feet from me.
I know that I should have been scared of him, but I wasn’t. Perhaps it was because with the deaths of my parents and being dumped by Esteban, the worst things that I imagined could have happened to me had already happened. Or maybe, it was because I knew that this was the creature who had warned my parents, and now, I imagined, had come to warn me. Some part of me knew that he was there to help.
