Chapter 11
Jassie balled herself up and wondered why it was so cold. She sat up to reach for the covers and wondered idly if Jalen had stolen them. But the spot next to her was colder still, and there were no covers. She sat up, frightened. It was dark in the room. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself. The last thing she remembered, Walter had told her they were a few hours from her father’s place. So they had to be in California. But how did she get here?
She was in a bed, so it had to be a room of some sort. It didn’t sound like anyone else was in there with her, so that was a relief. The last thing she needed was more to worry about with Walter. She hadn’t realized before what a creep he really was until this trip.
