“Mom? MOM!” I called through the mind link in panic. I held her to my chest in my transformed arms, careful not to hurt her with my claws. What do I do? She needs help but I can’t leave her, and I might hurt her more if I carry her. Small whimpers escaped my throat until I saw the man out of the corner of my eye. In my panic I have forgotten about him. I warned him with a growl when he came closer. I know my mother linked me not to hurt him but if he so much as tried anything that didn’t sit well with me, I would tear of his head.
