Chapter Thirteen
One evening, Marcus sat waiting for Roxanna to arrive. Half an hour after the appointed time there was a ring at the door. When he opened it, there was a man standing on the step. He was on the tall side, quite good-looking, about Marcus’ age, and dressed in a well-cut suit and a silk tie.
‘Where is she?’ he snapped.
‘I beg your pardon?’ Marcus said.
‘I know you’re f*****g my wife. Where is she?’
Marcus tried to keep calm. But he wasn’t going to be bullied.
‘As a matter of fact, she’s not here,’ he said. ‘Not that I would tell you if she was.’
The man tried to push past Marcus into the house. Marcus put his hand on the man’s chest.
‘Just a minute,’ he said. ‘Who do you think you are, trying to burst into my house?’
