Sam, Amber, Ash, and Mya stood and watched as Gem and Michelle set a perimeter around the area she could scent the kidnappers. They set up a square and took steps in each direction until they picked up the scent again, or something looked out of place. They would take ten steps, backtrack and change direction. Each time Sam thought they were making progress, they would take ten more steps backward. The only thing keeping her calm was Amber and the fact that Michelle seemed to pick up a scent at least every thirty or so steps. Gem walked slowly in her own directions, but she seemed to be picking up fewer tracks. They had gone for about three hours when Gem stopped and called for Michelle.
