CHAPTER SIXTEEN
“That was a rotten thing you did to me,” she accused. After all the powerful feelings of the morning passed through her, she felt empty and her emotions abused when she finally confronted Mike.
“I’m sorry you feel that way,” he returned, “it was hardly what I intended.”
“Although, I shouldn’t blame you entirely. Hector obviously set the whole thing up.”
“I suppose he did, but I think it was to a good end. And we can surely move beyond it,” he said with some certainty.
“No, I’m not sure I can move beyond it,” she returned coolly. “You could have showed up a long time ago and been straight with me. Why now? You didn’t come to me after I was rescued,” she said.
