It was some years later, and I was once again updating J Tanner’s dossier when one very intriguing fact came to light. As I entered the latest successful completion of an assignment which had proved more dangerous than any of us had dreamed—and incidentally the next in the unending list of red-headed women—I discovered to my surprise that Tanner had named me as his next-of-kin.
I was in the midst of puzzling this over when the Wolf strode into my office.
