With a racing heart, I hurried over to Gigi, ready to tell her what had happened with Charis and that I had not kissed him. He kissed me.
However, no sooner had I opened my mouth than a wave of vertigo struck, nearly knocking me off my feet. The room spun, the lights blurring as I tried to grab the table, anything, even Charis, but the ground shifted beneath me like I was on a sinking ship.
My legs gave way, and I fell to the sofa, my body limp and heavy. My eyes twitched, struggling to remain open. No, no, I thought to myself, resisting the weight that was dragging me down. I opened my mouth, but all I could get out was gibberish. I was no longer even able to form the words.
