Suddenly, a hand fisted in my hair and yanked me to my feet. A raspy scream left my throat. All warmth plunged to an ice-cold trench. The scissors plopped in the water.
“b***h,” Darian glowered. I struggled against his death hold. “You’ll pay for what you did. You’ll pay hard—”
Thick black boots slammed into his shoulder. The force drove him to the ground behind me, and his hold on my hair brought me down with him. I coughed on dirt and dug my nails into his hand until he released me. I scrambled to my feet.
Darian was flat on his chest with his arms pinned behind him and a big gloved hand pressing his cheek against the ground.
