Ben's POV:
I have a big problem. I like two girls but don't know how to tell them. Both of them are cute and look good. Now I wish they didn't. I can't decide which one I like more. My roommate suggested spending time with them separately. That was to make things clear for me. Of course, I did it. That was a mistake. I was so close to kissing both of them. Luckily, they still don't know about each other. That won't be for long. I plan to make them meet and tell them everything. I can't hide this anymore. It makes me feel awful. Also, they don't deserve to be with someone like me. The girls are too nice. Annie is a good listener, and I can tell her anything. Well, Chloe is funny, and I like her laugh. I don't know how I ended up in this situation. Some people can't even get one girl, while I am stuck between two. That's why I have no idea if they like me. I haven't asked them that. Maybe it's better if I don't know. Otherwise, I will have more problems. Imagine if both of them like me. I don't know what else to do except to tell the truth. It will be better if I stay away from them. If I explain everything to them, I'm sure they will understand. The thing is that I like spending time with them. They make me feel good. Also, I stopped thinking about my problems. I can keep seeing Annie and Chloe, but I will end up hurting them. I can't do that. I'm not this type of person. You know what? I will deal with this alone. What matters is to get the girls out of this. Everything else is like a second plan. I hope that they will understand me.
Today is the day. Annie and Chloe will meet. I know this is the right decision even if I don't want to do it. I can't keep playing with them. It's not their fault that I like both of them. Honestly, I don't know how it happened. I wanted to have a girlfriend, but only one, not two. Maybe I deserve all this. The last time I went home was terrible. Since then, I haven't talked to my parents. They don't even want to hear about me. Let's say that we had career disagreements.
Currently, I am in my dorm with Cole. Well, he is still sleeping. The thing is that I couldn't and woke up early. I sent a message to the girls. They will meet me for lunch at a small restaurant. For some reason, I have a bad feeling about this. Hopefully, they won't hate me after this. I went to the bathroom. It would've been better if I hadn't messed with this. Now it's too late. When I came back, I saw my roommate awake. I don't think I am the only one having problems with a girl.
- Girl problems?
- Oh, hey. No, I don't have any.
- Are you sure?
- Yes, I am.
- It looks like you are waiting for someone to text you.
- I sent Zoe a message.
- Zoe? Elina's sister?
- Yes, why?
- Make sure your girlfriend won't find out. Otherwise, you know what will happen.
- Don't worry. Also, I plan to break up with her.
- Finally. When?
- I don't know.
- Dude.
- I don't want her to hate me.
- I will hate you if you don't do it. This girl is not for you. When will you understand it?
- I know, I know. I will think of something.
- That's what I expect.
- What are your plans for the day?
- I have lunch with Annie and Chloe.
- What? With both of them?
- Yes. I will end everything.
- Are you sure about this? I know you like them.
- It's better for all of us.
- If you say so. I hope you won't regret it.
- Well, your idea didn't help much.
- Which one? To go out with them separately?
- Yes, that one.
- What happened?
- I almost kissed both of them. Good job, best friend. Now I have more problems.
- I'm sorry. I didn't know you would do this.
- Me either. At least I tried.
- Yes, you did. If you want, I will come with you.
- Thanks, but I have to do this alone. I created this mess, and I have to fix it.
- You can always call me if you need help.
- For sure, I will. Thank you.
- You're welcome. We can go for breakfast.
- I won't deny it.
Cole and I walked outside. I wasn't hungry at all. I still ate something. Mostly, we were talking. I'm worried about this lunch. I can cancel it, but this won't help. I'm only delaying the problem. One day, I have to face it. I can't keep running away from it.
After breakfast, I walked around a bit. Then, I went back to my dorm for a shower. I'm nervous about this. I noticed this because that was the longest shower I have ever taken. When I was ready, I went to get dressed. I won't wear the same clothes. Now it's time for me to go. Annie was already there. We walked in and took a table. Soon, Chloe came as well.
- Hey, Chloe.
- Hey, Ben. Oh, hi.
- Hello.
- Ben, don't you have to tell me something? - Chloe asked
- I do. That's why I invited both of you here.
- I don't understand.
- Soon, you will. What will you order?
- I don't know. I'll go with fried potatoes.
- Annie?
- I will eat chicken nuggets with sauce.
- I will get a small pizza.
We ordered everything and waited for the food to come. I feel horrible. The girls have no idea what they are doing here. It's now or never. I'm sure they will have many questions.
- Ben, what is going on? You look worried. - Annie said
- I have to tell you something.
- To Chloe or me?
- To both of you.
- I don't understand.
- I made a mess. That's why you two are here. I will try to fix everything.
- Ben, please don't scare me. - Chloe said
- Here is the truth. I liked both of you. The problem is that I didn't know which one to choose. My roommate gave me an idea. That's why I went out with you two separately. This only made things worse for me.
- Why?
- Because I almost did the same thing to both of you. The best thing I can do is to stay away from you.
- Are you sure? Ben, I don't think we are the problem. - Annie said
- What do you mean?
- Do you have problems at home?
- How do you know?
- Because you act differently.
- Ben, you don't like both of us. You only miss your parents, more specifically, your mom. Am I right? - Chloe asked
- I don't want to talk about this.
- Is it that bad?
- We don't talk anymore.
- Maybe we can help you with something. - Annie said
- You can't. They won't listen.
- What is the problem?
- We have career differences. They wanted me to study something else.
- Like what? - Chloe asked
- Business. I have creative writing subjects.
- I still don't see a problem. Why don't they like what you study?
- I don't know. They think I won't have success. Mom said that my career would fail before it started.
- Ok, that is a bit rude. She can't tell you this.
- But she did. Look, I'm sorry about everything I did to you and Annie. I didn't mean to do it.
- Hey, it's ok. You might not like us, but it doesn't mean we can't be friends, right?
- Really?
- I won't deny having two new friends. - Annie said
- To understand that none of you is mad at me.
- No, we aren't.
- Thank god. I was worried that you two would hate me.
- For what? You didn't do anything wrong. It's normal for people to get confused.
- Hopefully, I didn't cause problems.
- Don't worry. Everything is fine.
- If you want, all of us can go out tomorrow. Take your roommate. Well, without his girlfriend. - Chloe said, and I laughed
- He won't bring her for sure.
- Cole needs a new girlfriend. - Annie said
- He might be working on this with his girlfriend's sister.
- What? Are you sure?
- Not much. They are only texting. Well, for now.
- You never know what can happen. - Chloe said
- True. Let's enjoy our lunch now.
- Agreed.
I talked with the girls during the entire lunch. I'm glad that we can be friends. Maybe they are right. I miss my parents. I still don't understand how my mom could tell me this. It's as if she didn't care about me at all. Dad was on her side, but her words hurt me the most. I didn't want to talk with them again, but maybe that is what I should do. We can't keep fighting for this. I don't want to do it.
After lunch, I walked back into my dorm. I spent the whole afternoon there. Cole was still texting Zoe. He better be careful. Elina can't find out about this. Also, there is another problem. He might fall for her. Zoe is a good girl, but her sister isn't. I'm sure she won't permit this.
- Leave the girl alone.
- What?
- Zoe. You didn't stop texting her.
- Oh, I'm not texting Zoe.
- Are you sure?
- Yes. I am.
- You can lie to whoever you want, but not to me.
- Ok, fine. I was only checking on her. After all, she will study the same thing as me.
- Watch out. Otherwise, you might fall for her.
- That won't happen.
- I won't be so sure.
- Why?
- Check your phone.
- This doesn't mean anything.
- Yeah, sure. If you like Zoe, break up with Elina and go out with her.
- I can't do that.
- You can't break up with Elina?
- No. I can't go out with Zoe. It will look like I broke up with her to be with her sister. Also, I don't want Zoe to get in trouble. It's enough that they don't like each other.
- I don't understand what all this is about. They are sisters.
- So what? Siblings can argue.
- Yes, but not like them. It looks like Elina is annoyed by every single thing her sister does.
- I tried to talk with their parents, but nothing happened. They couldn't help me.
- You better not mess with this.
- I was thinking the same.
Cole and I talked for a while. Then he went for a shower. I waited for him because I wanted us to go out. I have no idea where we'll go, but I don't want to stay inside all day. Later, we went to a diner. Both of us shared a pizza. I wasn't that hungry. It looks like it wasn't only me. Maybe he has the same problem as me. Well, with the difference that he has to break up with a girl. I don't know how he feels about that. As we were eating, someone joined us.
- Hello, boys. Can we eat with you? - Chloe asked
- Chloe, Annie? What are you doing here?
- Well, we decided to spend the day together. Now we are friends.
- Good.
- I see you have fixed your problem. - Cole said
- Your best friend is the most honest person I have seen. - Annie said
- You should keep him. - Chloe said
- Girls, don't exaggerate.
- We don't. I think you should talk to your parents. They will understand.
- No, they won't. Can we not talk about this now?
- Ok, ok. What do you want us to do?
- Well, after dinner, we can go somewhere. - Cole said
- What about your girlfriend? - Annie asked
- I think it's time for me to break up with her.
- Man, you keep saying this for months. I don't believe you anymore.
- I will try.
- Good luck. She won't let you do it.
- That is not her choice.
- Zoe can help you.
- No, no. I won't mess her with this.
- Who is Zoe? - Chloe asked
- His girlfriend's sister.
- Oh, drama.
- I won't do anything with Zoe.
- If you say so.
- For real. It's enough that they are arguing all the time. I don't want to cause more problems.
- Good luck.
- Thanks.
We ate our dinner peacefully. Then all of us went out. The girls wanted us to go out again tomorrow. I'm glad that I managed to fix my problem. Maybe they are right. I didn't like any of them. I want to talk to my parents. The thing is that I don't know what to tell them. I don't think they will understand me. I wish things could be the way they used to be. Everything has changed since I went to university. I have no idea why my career is bothering them so much. I like it. Finally, I found something that makes me happy. That's what I want to do. I hope that we'll start talking to each other again.
