Chris's POV:
Should we judge him or be proud of him? Bella wasn't happy when she found her dad at the police station. Then a man told her what had happened. It turned out that he cares about her and Emily but in his own way. I know that Bella loves him, and that's why she is defending him so much, but she has to think about her sister. She might be only ten, but if I have to be honest, she is more mature for her age. Both with Bella deserve an ordinary life, but who knows when they can have it? Emily is still a kid, but from what I saw, she is older mentally. My parents and I have no problem if she sleeps at home. The problem is that she hates her dad, and he doesn't care about that. Bella is trying everything possible to make her understand. If Emily doesn't see it by herself, I don't think she will believe it. I can try to talk with her, but I'm not sure if she will want to. Moreover, I am on Bella's side for obvious reasons. That doesn't mean if she is wrong, I will support her. I will make her understand her mistake. Mom will do a better job at this than me for sure. I can make her talk with mister Evans, but I'm not sure if he will talk with her. Well, it's worth a try. The other thing is that I have invited Bella on a date, but with everything that is happening, I don't think we'll have time for that. I hope that we can find at least an hour for ourselves. I have been wanting this for more than a year, and I don't plan to give up. Not yet.
I woke up and went to get ready. It's the weekend, but I can't sleep all day. I wish that Bella was with me. It would be nice to wake up next to her. She has stayed at home only a few times but in the guest room. Well, I can invite her for a sleepover, but I'm not sure she will accept. Right now, she is taking care of her dad. Mostly keeping him out of trouble. It was good that he defended his daughters, but not the way he did it. If both of the men were drunk, then you can't expect anything else from them.
I walked downstairs for breakfast. My parents were talking in the kitchen. When I walked in, they immediately stopped their conversation and looked at me. Did I do something? I'm trying to be a good boy, but maybe I have made a mistake. I didn't do anything and sat at the table in front of my mom. She smiled at me, and I returned it. Something is going on here, and I want to know what. Now it's time to understand.
- Do you want to tell me something?
- No. Why? - mom asked
- Because I know that something is going on. You can't keep things away from me.
- You will understand soon.
- When?
There was a knock on the door. Who can be so early? Well, it's 9 am, but for me, it's early. Mom went to open the door. Bella and Emily walked in. I won't lie that this made me happy. I was thinking about her. She smiled and sat next to me. Of course, I pulled her for a hug. This girl smells like heaven.
- You didn't tell me that you would come.
- Your parents invited me. I thought that you knew.
- No, I didn't.
- Emily, Jasmine is in her room. If you want, you can go and see her. - mom said
- Thank you. - Emily said and left
- Miss Walker, can I know why I am here? It's not like I mind, but I'm a bit curious. - Bella said, chuckling
- I think that we found a way you can make your dad understand how important you and Emily are.
- I'm listening to you.
- You probably won't like it much, but this was the only idea that we got.
- What is it?
- If you move out of your house only for a week, he will see the difference. Mostly, he will feel it. That something is missing.
- I understand, but where do we have to go?
- Well, you and Emily can stay here. - dad said
- Why do I like this? - I asked, and everyone laughed
- This is why we didn't tell. Otherwise, you will get excited. - mom said
- Look, I appreciate it, but what if something happens to him? I can't leave my dad just like dad.
- You can keep an eye on him, but from a distance. What do you say?
- There is a chance that this will help, but I'm not sure. Who will take care of everything?
- Bella, you are worrying too much. Here, you will understand what it is to be a teenager. I mean to take a rest and live your life. - I said, chuckling
- I don't know.
- Emily will like it.
- She likes everything, except dad.
- I can't be sure that this will work, but at least you can try. - mom said
- Ok, I will do it, but only for a week. Then I am going home.
- You and Emily can stay here as much as you want. - dad said
- I will have another girl. - mom said, excited
- Don't you mean two? - dad asked, chuckling
- Be careful. Now, mom will spoil you the whole week. - I whispered to Bella
- It's ok. I don't mind. When do I have to move here officially?
- If you want, we can do it today. Next Sunday, you will be at home.
- Let's do it then.
Emily and Bella walked back home to get what we needed. Mostly, it's for school and some clothes. bella told her sister that during this week, they wouldn't go home, so she had to take everything she needed. My friend didn't take many things. Dad and I were with them to help. He was our driver. I'm sure that being in their house for so long will be uncomfortable for them, but if this is the only chance to change their dad, they will do it. Before we walked away, Bella left her dad a note.
Dear dad, Emily and I are moving away for some time. We'll be in miss and mister Walker's house. I want to get away from everything and feel like an ordinary girl. I'm sorry I had to leave you, but I'm getting tired. You are not helping me, and I can't do all the work by myself. Sometimes I need fresh air if you understand me. I hope you will take care of yourself and won't get in trouble because you have to deal with this alone. I love you. We'll see you soon. Bye, dad.
I won't lie that writing the note probably made Bella sad. She doesn't want to leave her dad, but at the same time, she wants her old dad. The one who was taking care of her. During the whole ride, Bella was snuggling with me. Emily was happy, but Bella wasn't. Well, she is still a kid. No matter that she is more mature than she looks. We walked in, and mom took the girls to their room.
- Emily, you can sleep with Jasmine. I know that you will like it.
- Really? Awesome. Thank you. - she said and hugged mom
- Bella, you can sleep with Chris if you want, but since you are a girl, I thought you might want some space. I have prepared the guest room next to Chris's one.
- Thank you.
- Are you ok?
- Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry. I will go and leave my things.
Bella walked into her room, and I followed her. I know that she is still upset. After all, she spent her whole life helping her dad. Mostly, her teenage years. It will be hard for her to leave him in his state alone. Well, she has to try. It won't be easy, but I know she can do it. I believe in her.
- Bella, he will be fine.
- Why are you so sure? You don't know him.
- But I know you. If something happens, we'll be there to help him. Trust me. Nothing bad will happen to your dad.
- I hope that you are right. - she said and sat on the bed
- Hey, I won't leave you alone with this. - I said and sat next to her
I pulled Bella for a hug, and she snuggled. I kissed the top of her head and felt a small smile. This girl will be the death of me. I wish that I could tell her what I feel. Now it's not the time for that. Well, since she is here for a whole week, we can finally have our date. I don't know if she will accept, but I hope for the best.
- Bella, can I ask you something?
- Sure. I'm listing to you.
- Since you will be at home for a whole week, do you want to go on a date with me?
- Really?
- Only if you want to. I don't want you to feel obligated.
- I would love to.
- I'm glad that you are still up for this.
- Did you think that I might change my mind?
- Lately, a lot of things have happened. Not so nice.
- But this doesn't mean that I have forgotten about you.
- To understand that this is a yes.
- Yes, it is.
- Awesome. What do you want us to do now?
- We can watch a movie or go out. If you want, we can take Emily and Jasmine to play in the park.
- Yes, or we can go alone.
- They won't know what we'll do.
- Ok, we can take them.
Bella and I walked to my sister's room. Both with Emily were playing a game. When they heard about the park, both of them threw everything away and got ready. Some things never change. We walked to the nearest park. While the girls were playing, we were sitting on a bench and talking. Sometimes the small things make you happy. I looked at Bella, who was smiling at her sister.
- What?
- Nothing.
- Then why are you looking at me like that?
- I'm just admiring the view.
- If you say so. - she said and blushed
I couldn't resist and kissed her cheek. She has to get used to this. I know that it's still strange for her. Well, I won't stop doing it, so she better accept it.
- You won't stop doing this, will you?
- I always compliment pretty girls.
- That was an interesting compliment.
- Everyone has a different way to show it.
- I see. Thank you for going out with me.
- You know that I will do anything for you.
- By the way, you still haven't told me why you are doing it.
- I know, but I don't want to talk about this now.
- Ok, I won't pressure you. When you feel ready, you can share it with me.
- I will, for sure. It might be a strange question, but do you want to swing?
- It might be a strange answer, but yes. I do. - she said, laughing
- Let's see who will get there first.
- This will be me. - she said and ran away
- Hey, that's not fair.
- You didn't say that there were rules.
That will be an interesting week. It will be hard for Bella to stay away from her dad for so long, but I have the feeling that he will come home soon. Well, if he does that, it will be great. I know how much she wants him to be who he used to be. From the other side, it might take him some time. Bella was taking care of him like a babysitter. Put him to bed, make him take a shower, and eat. I hope that she can use this week to rest. She deserves this more than anyone else. I love Bella, and I hope that I will be able to tell her. She is the only girl with who I want to be.
