“These look like blast proof doors,” Kemper said. “I’ve seen these in some of the old missile silos. They are very strong and allow the frontal blast pressure to be vented through those,” he pointed to large vents in the ceiling. “Venting the blast pressure keeps the doors from blowing inward. It works very well. I’ve seen some demonstrations. It also allows less weight and structure in the doors and frames.”
“Ok,” I said. “Let’s go over the walls and see if we can find the same sort of lock as we found before. There’s nothing at all on these doors. Not even a handle.”
“Wait. Everyone stop,” Kemper said suddenly. “Look over there,” He pointed to a rectangle on the side wall in a space our handheld flashlights had missed. We then noted that there were other similar sized spaces around us,
