Ivy's POV
Grabbing my bag from the office, I swung it over my shoulder as I prepared to leave the Women's Shelter I volunteer at when I had free time. My job here was to entertain the kids while their mothers spoke with the counsellors or just had some time to decompress and decide on their next move. These kids had gone through the wringer before their mothers decided to leave, but they were very resilient. I hated that any child had to go through life like that.
My parents were pretty absent from my life, jet setting around the world, making deals and more money than we could spend in our lifetime. So while they made it, I spent my time at home volunteering with whatever charity I could in my free time and donating plenty of funds along the way.
