Winston waited for the guys to return. He sat at the kitchen table, playing cards with his sisters and Dustin. Joy was winning at poker, but she usually did. Either she was skilled, lucky, or cheating. He’d bet on cheating.
A horn honked, and they rushed outside. Travis was removing the trailer.
Winston asked, “You didn’t kill them, did you?”
Grandpa said, “I wanted to, but this here candy-ass wouldn’t let me. They’d better not come back.”
Travis said, “That Bobby fellow will likely die anyway. He has a chest shot. If he was taken to an emergency room, he’d still likely die.” He spied Dustin. “Dude, you are a hot guy. Angela sure sheared you, but it looks great. Will you marry me?”
