James PoV
“You did not expect that we would find out about your past, did you?” Ethan taunts her.
Harper does not answer, her eyes never leaving Ethan.
“Answer the question, Harper!” Jonathan orders.
Her head snaps to look at Jonathan now, but she still doesn't answer.
“Stop it.” I yell.
“James, c’mon! You know those are legitimate questions!” Jonathan says.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. Those are my friends and I do not want to fight with them. I understand their doubts, I truly do. But I do not accept the blunt aggressiveness toward Harper.
“They are. But now is not the time. I am taking her back home and we can sit down and talk... Civilly!”
