Chapter 10Dusty awoke to the smell of coffee, just before his alarm sounded. For a moment, he thought he was still dreaming, but no, Mari was up before him with coffee already made. She looked up shyly as he emerged from the bedroom, clad in jeans with his shirt still unfastened.
“I knew you drank coffee. I needed some too, but I wasn’t sure about breakfast.”
He stared at her a moment. “Good grief, girl, what time did you get up?”
“About like I usually do, with the very first of the early birds. I wake up when it starts to get light—about twenty minutes ago.”
